Canadian violinist and violist Sarah McElravy leads a diverse career combining concerto, recital and chamber music performances. After studying with Paul Kantor and Stephen Rose at the Cleveland Institute of Music, she studied with the Tokyo String Quartet at Yale University’s School of Music for two years. During her studies she founded the Linden String Quartet, which quickly became a celebrated ensemble that won many prizes, including the Gold Medal and the Grand Prize of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the ProQuartet Prize at the ninth Borciani String Quartet Competition. When she’s not playing with her Linden String Quartet colleagues, Sarah McElravy travels the world playing with chamber musicians such as Janine Jansen, Julian Rachlin, Vilde Frang, Mischa Maisky, Andreas Ottensamer and Nicolas Altstaedt.

In 2014, Sarah McElravy founded the Chamber Music Society Mexico, an organization dedicated to promoting chamber music and developing advanced musical education for young Mexican talent.

Sarah McElravy plays a violin from the workshop of an anonymous string instrument maker from the 1850s.
