Jerusalem Quartet

Founded in the 1993/1994 season by four young Israeli musicians, the Jerusalem Quartet officially made its debut in 1996. The quartet immediately received acclaim from critics for its warmth of sound and its remarkable balance between the low and high registers. Since then the ensemble has not stopped working, performing in prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, Tonhalle in Zurich and Salle Pleyel in Paris, and partaking in prominent festivals such as Schubertiades in Schwarzenberg and Verbier Festival.

Experienced in the art of recording, the quartet has built up a considerable discography in a little over twenty years. Their recordings of works by Haydn and Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden” received praise and numerous awards including the Diapason d’or, BBC Music Magazine Award for chamber music and the ECHO klassik. In January 2018 their latest album exploring two aspects of Dvořák’s chamber music was released to unanimous acclaim and the quartet has many tours planned throughout the year to bring this new program to life.
